Captive power: status, rebates and surcharges

A captive plant saves money only while it keeps its captive status. When a distribution company questions that status, withholds a rebate or levies a surcharge, ENP prepares the case and argues it before the regulator.

How an engagement runs

  1. Review of bills, orders and recordsWe establish what the distribution company or the other side has levied, withheld or claimed, and why.
  2. Representation to the utilityMany disputes close at this stage with a reasoned letter that cites the regulations.
  3. Petition before the forumWhere needed, a petition to the state commission, CERC or the Electricity Ombudsman, or an appeal to APTEL.
  4. Hearing and complianceMr. Ajay Porwal appears at the hearing, and we follow the order through to refund, revised bills or compliance.
